Pzechyl V

I was too tired after the time Benn Aelum II entered my mind that Raina had to enter dreams alone for a while. I think she preferred it that way, but she had very little in the way of results.

Wayfinder Gren

Pzechyl awoke in a forest.

She spent little time in forests; she preferred the open plains. It was comforting to see everything in all directions around you for miles rather than be crowded among trees or buildings.

But she was in a forest.

“What happened?” she mumbled. Her mind felt fuzzy, off.

“Hello, Kzer.”

A rabbit jumped up onto a log next to her.

“Talking animals?” Pzechyl said. “Where am I?”

“With friends,” the rabbit said. “You were going to go to sleep for a second. You’ve had a stressful few days.”

Yes, she had been tired and stressed lately.

After the Glorious Conquest, she became the first Ruth to conquer the island. Pzechyl had Queen Lydia brought to her in chains. She would make a lovely pet after some time. She kept saying her name was “Lydia,” but Lydia was gone, and Pzechyl had given her a new name for her new pet, and all the former queen could say now was bark whenever she needed something. Oh, she was resisting and fighting it, but Pzechyl knew how to make her do what she wanted.

Pzechyl would have given her a clean death, but the woman didn’t deserve it, not for what she did to Pzechyl’s people at the seige of Kyzach. And not for what she did to Attel, whose actual name was Thom.

During the war, Lydia knew Attel was more loyal to Pzechyl than to Lydia, so she had him killed, his body ripped to pieces, and given to Pzechyl in a box. There would be no mercy for Lydia now, not with everything she had done!

The war had been hard. Pzechyl had to run through the Vess, and the Borrin lands on the Continent first. The Skel, the masked robe people, conceded almost immediately.

Vesterman Cera Krontz, leader of the Vess, died on the battlefield. Pzechyl thrust her spear into his side, and cut his head off, and carried it with her into battle until she crossed the Channel.

The entire world was hers now, the Kzer, the greatest of all time, conquering everything she saw.

“Yes, you conquered the entire world and brought prosperity to your ancestors,” the rabbit said. “You helped destroy the Borrin, tear their cities apart stone by stone. You saved the world.”

Saving the world? Is that what the rabbit thought of it as? Why would Pzechyl try to something like that? She just wanted to set her people free, not be a caretaker for the entire world.

Her mind hurt, and some of her thoughts grew fuzzy.

“Where am I again?” Pzechyl said.

“You’re resting,” the rabbit said. “You’ve had a stressful life, as it should be for a Ruth. Any Ruth who wasn’t stressed, who grew fat like a pig, wasn’t living the right sort of life. You lived by the old ways and saved the world.
